2024 started with some impressive events across North America for the Dragonfli Media team. From a world broadcast in our backyard to activations across the West, our team worked to bring dynamic events to life. Read on for more about what Dragonfli has achieved so far in 2024:
International Biathlon Union Broadcast
We were delighted to be a part of the International Biathlon Union’s World Cup at Soldier Hollow this March, acting as the broadcast partner to Eurovision/EBU. This was only the second time a World Cup had been held at Soldier Hollow, the site of the 2002 Winter Games. Our team oversaw the construction and management of the television compound that featured production trucks, temporary offices, and edit cabins. We took on additional duties from the local organizing committee with television platform builds and cabling across the 5-kilometer courses.
The production had 30 cameras, a live drone, and over 25 mics to cover the unique sounds of the biathlon shooting range, allowing for full coverage of this premier event for an audience of millions around the world.
Toyota Brand Activations
Our brand activations with Toyota expanded this year to include new locations and events, showcasing a commitment to engaging audiences and driving meaningful connections across the Mountain West and northwestern US. From Boise to Spokane and south to Albuquerque, our brand ambassadors set up exciting activations for sports fans attending hockey, baseball, soccer and basketball games. Each event series featured branded tents, signage, and digital prize wheels to engage consumers and gather data. Lead generation was facilitated through iPads, with logistics managed meticulously to ensure a seamless brand experience.
At the Western Hunting & Conservation Expo, we collaborated with onsite teams to prepare a comprehensive activation featuring multiple display vehicles strategically positioned throughout the expo. Brand ambassadors engaged attendees, collected surveys, and distributed giveaways, while amenities like charging stations and lounge areas enhanced the overall experience.
Chase Sapphire Lounge with Intersport
This winter we completed our fifth season of collaborating with Intersport to host Chase Sapphire Reserve Lounges at a series of Alterra Resorts across the US. We hosted two weekends each at Big Bear Mountain Resort and Steamboat Springs, and one weekend at Palisades Tahoe. At each location and between stops, we helped build, prepare and pack all assets for safe and secure transportation across the Sierra and Rocky Mountains. Once each lounge was constructed and set in its location, we continued to coordinate with each resort and Intersport to ensure a successful event. We love mountain-ops events and were delighted to bring another winter of Chase Lounge activations to life!
USSA Toyota Grand Prix at Mammoth Mountain
We were thrilled to be back on snow with US Ski and Snowboard, working to design and install the height meters along the halfpipe at Mammoth Mountain’s Toyota U.S. Grand Prix. Congratulations to all the teams and athletes involved in another amazing Grand Prix season with stops at Copper and Mammoth!
Natural Selection Tour – Revelstoke
Our Brand Manager, Jason Eder, was a part of Natural Selection Tour’s competition stop in Revelstoke for a second year, partnering with operations professionals from around North America to bring this one-of-a-kind competition to life. Riders spent the first day just outside the boundary of Revelstoke Mountain Resort and a second day of competition in the rugged backcountry of the Selkirk Mountains this March.
Lexus Brand Activations
Over 4 1/2 months (10 events), we activated for three local Lexus dealers at the Sacramento Kings at the Golden One Arena. The centerpiece of our activation included laser engraving cell phone wallets for Kings fans, designed by Franceska Gámez, a local Sacramento artist. As the Kings took home the win, fans took home one-of-a-kind wallets, featuring their names and some with the Kings’ slogan, “light the beam.”
Woodward Park City Projects
It was a busy winter with Woodward Park City, and we were on hand to help at numerous events. We kicked things off at Stance’s Round-up at Woodward with Jill Perkins, where we designed and installed the drop-in for this two-day invitational snowboard contest.
In April, we supported Woodward and the 43 Institute for the Ken Block 4/3 Day Block Party at Woodward Park City. The event commemorated Ken Block’s contributions to the action and motorsports communities and supported the 43 Institute’s mission to create opportunities for those without support for growth and success. We provided live production services for the event, including a three-camera shoot, media content management, live audio integration, and run of show management. The video program was shared on the big screens and monitors inside Woodward for attendees.
National Lacrosse League Game Production
This spring, we continued producing games for four teams in the NLL: San Diego Seals, Colorado Mammoth, Panther City Lacrosse Club, and the Las Vegas Desert Dogs. We provide full broadcast production via a remote integration model, producing and directing live game programming to ESPN+ as well as local networks in each team market. This season capped off with two of our teams, San Diego and Panther City, facing off in the first round of the quarterfinal. It was an exciting end to another great season with the NLL.
